Prostate cancer diagnoses are once again on the rise after decades of steady decline. This resurgence presents both a challenge and an opportunity—to improve outcomes for all men affected by the disease, and especially for Black men, who disproportionately bear its burden.
Recognizing the urgent need to address these disparities, the American Cancer Society (ACS), along with its nonpartisan advocacy affiliate, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), launched a bold new initiative: IMPACT – Improving Mortality from Prostate Cancer Together. This initiative is designed to mobilize action, raise awareness, and drive equitable solutions in the fight against prostate cancer.
As the video editor for the launch of IMPACT, I played a key role in shaping how this critical message would be introduced to the public. My responsibilities extended beyond basic editing—I worked closely with stakeholders to ensure the narrative struck the right tone, resonated with diverse audiences, and clearly conveyed both the urgency of the issue and the call to action. From refining the script and selecting impactful visuals to managing pacing, audio, and final delivery, I helped craft a compelling and emotionally resonant video that reflects the gravity of the issue and the hope embedded in the initiative. This was more than a technical task; it was a creative collaboration in support of a life-saving mission.
